Northallerton Street Angels is a community initiative led by the New Life Baptist Church in Northallerton working alongside colleagues from North Yorkshire Police and Hambleton District Council’s CCTV Team.
Thanks to initial funding from the Police and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire and other sources, New Life Baptist Church along with local police, One Northallerton churches together and the Safer Hambleton Community Safety Hub introduced the Northallerton Street Angels scheme in 2016.
Street Angels work in groups of three and patrol areas of the town covered by CCTV to offer reassurance and help to anyone who might need some support on a Saturday night.
The Northallerton Street Angels can be summarised as:
- Committed Volunteers
- Community Spirit
- Providing a safe place for those in need
- Dedicated patrols at weekends
- Working with the night time economy
- Helping to keep Northallerton safe
Street Angels schemes already work in over 130 towns and cities throughout the UK and abroad. For more information, visit www.sa-cni.org.uk.
